The experienced OT’s at OT FOR KIDS facilitate a range of peer group sessions during school terms and school holiday times. These small group programs are targeted to support children of all ages, from:
- preschoolers getting ready for school, through to
- primary school students workshopping social interaction or written expression, to
- teen programs working on social thinking or planning/time management.
Sessions are individualised for the children participating and are based on evidence-informed practice to facilitate the skills children need to navigate in meaningful way, the common social, emotional and skill based challenges that they encounter.
Some examples of OT FOR KIDS group programs include:
‘Boys Squad’ is a thriving social and interest based group that facilitates tween boys social thinking, sensory regulation development, social play and communication skills.
‘Girls Crew’ aims to facilitate opportunities for teen girls to engage in activities that promote teamwork, social skills, problem solving, creativity and social connection. These groups provide an opportunity for girls with similar interests to meet up, practice social thinking and have fun in a supportive peer environment.
